I was recently invited to speak at a networking event last monday, July 20th called The Vancouver Professionals Collective, created & hosted by my friend Karen Tattersall. When she asked me if I was interested in speaking, I gotta say I was a bit nervous, but then I got over it and said yes! let’s do this!
A little back story, Karen recently started the Vancouver Professionals Collective, uniting business people in Vancouver to enrich their lives & businesses by connecting and networking. One of the things I admire about Karen’s story is how she started this community and how she started it out of her own desire to help and unite people and enable them to get together to enrich their businesses. That is what entrepreneurship is all about, taking action and starting something and going with your gut.

Anyhow, the event was at the Suite Genius workplace in Mt. Pleasant. Such a nice space for working, having meetings or just hanging out. If you are a freelancer or just need a place to work at this place is it.
I had the pleasure of meeting great business people from all kinds of industries, mortgage brokers, lawyers, interior designers, realtors and even a psychic.
After meeting and talking to some of these lovely people before my talk, there was something in common with all them, they all share one need, which is, they need to create more business through smarter marketing. Their basic business needs are all the same, different industry of course, but the same.
Also presenting at the event was, Brady Dahmer from Central Branch Creative Intelligence Agency, Gisele Loi from Blank Canvas Design Co., and myself.
When it came to my talk, I had all these stories that I had listened to prior to speaking in my mind and it just fueled what I was talking about, which was how to use Inbound Marketing & content marketing strategies for your business and also about adding value to your company’s content and message.

All in all, it went great and I was very happy with the results of my talk, given it had been a long time since I had given a talk. It actually felt great to finally put myself out there again and talk about what I know best.
I am so looking forward to the next event and a huge thanks to Karen for inviting me to meet and talk to great people.
